‘Experiences Over Things’

More and more people (including myself) are realizing the importance of experiences over things. Material items make us happy for a very short amount of time. Making memories, however, last a lifetime and fill the heart with happiness and joy.

When it comes to traveling and creating experiences there are three things to try and balance…

  1. Budget – my personal rule is to set aside 10% of my income each year dedicating it to travel and experiences. People think you need to have a lot of money to travel but it simply comes down to how you choose to spend your paycheck.

  2. Your time – if you don’t plan ahead or have it on your calendar it won’t happen. Sounds crazy, but I always have my travel figured out a year in advance.

  3. Your travel buddies – find positive people to travel with that you know will help broaden and enhance your experience. And it’s okay to travel alone too! Sometimes it’s good for the soul and reenergizing to have “me” time.
